So how much of your info is downloaded and sent to NSA with the current version?
How about if they stop screwing with the interface for once?
STOP DOING THAT. ALL OF YOU.
After that ya gotta cough up the dough.
It would be nice if they would do something about the long boot times.
Ain't gonna happen. User interfaces are the Marketing Department Full Employment Act.
I find that Win10 boots very quickly. Of course, having at least 4GB of RAM and a fast disk help a lot.
Windows is a virus! Look at all the computers it had infested.
It -would- be nice if they told you... maybe they can add a little odometer on the side of the screen that tells you when they're sending your data and how much they've sent...
Actually, to be a true "virus" it would need to self-replicate, which Windows doesn't do.
You could maybe consider it a Trojan Horse, though, given that nearly all computers come with it pre-installed.
:-)
I have 16GB of RAM but I don’t have a SSD.
I am SO stealing that for use at work... :-)
Roger on that....it's my only honest gripe about Windows 10....gives you time to make coffee, do laundry, alphabetize your trash, sort your sock drawer, etc.
Actually, would you mind if I use it for the Windows Ping List for Win10 Update threads?
That’s been my experience and honestly, my laptop is a monster. I shouldn’t need an SSD to get respectable, even Win7 like boot times.
I just had a rather unpleasant thought. Given how ham-fisted MS has been with its various voluntary-but-not-really upgrades to Win10, and its view that you don’t really own the OS on your laptop (at least if it’s Windows):
What if MS decided that, just before the deadline for the “free” upgrade, they would generate a very obfuscated popup dialog giving you one last chance to opt out of the upgrade (Do you not not not not not not want to purchase Win10?).
Then, after the deadline passes, if you didn’t opt out properly, MS “assumes” you really did want to buy Win10, downloads it to your machine and installs it, and then leaves you stranded at the “enter license key” screen.
Oh, sure, they’d “acknowledge” the hardship they imposed, and provide irate users with a utility that would enable them to retrieve their documents and other files, but after all, it’s “your” fault that Win10 is on there now (you didn’t say no), and you didn’t upgrade when it was free, so you must have decided to buy, and since they only license the OS to you, they can do whatever they want to it. Then, after several months of backlash, they’ll “grudgingly” provide a utility to let you downgrade again, though it won’t work all that well (20% failure rate). Most people will just give up and pay the fee.
Do you know the RPM of your hard drive? 7200 makes a considerable difference over 5400.
I find that a small SSD (60-120GB) for the C: drive works wonders compared to any commercial rotating hard drive. The rotating hard drive can then become D: and store data.
Well I’m certainly glad this thread provided some useful info on this. /s
