I would be curious how many of those songs came from personal experience?
I only discovered Matraca Berg just a few years ago - her lyrics are simply extraordinary as she paints a picture that, no doubt, was shaped by her personal journey.
Case in point, “The Dreaming Fields” is about her grandparents and obviously the lyrics are very personal.
