Well you are right, Leviticus did proscribe the death penalty. But that law was for a specific set of people, the Israelites, at that time.
Also notice it was G-d who dealt with Sodom. He did not command his followers to do it.

I have to agree. While I don’t do the homo thing, those that do should not be killed for it. Take it out of the Bible.

You do not remove God’s word. Not one. There was a new covenant that started with the death and resurrection of Christ. The Old Testament is there still to show that man cannot live by His law and may only attain salvation through His grace.
The ignorance of this thread is appalling. The strictures of Leviticus are part of the Mosaic Law given due to the stiff-neckedness of Israel. It was for the discipline of God’s people in that place at that time.
To suggest that we should amend the Bible to comport with social mores is not only scary on this board but downright ignorant. You want peace in this world? Comport the world to the Bible... and understand what is written and why. No one seems to care about that last part anymore.

Slavery was an accepted institution (accepted by everyone except the slaves, at least) globally and throughout time, from prehistoric times right up thru the 17th Century. There were no cultures in which people would take serious umbrage at slavery of unrelated people. It was just their tough luck.
