If Iceland ever want to turn their fairytale run to Euro 2016 into a movie, they can ask goalkeeper Hannes Thor Halldorsson, a part-time film director responsible for the video for his country’s Eurovision Song Contest entry four years ago.

Just don’t expect veteran manager Lars Lagerback to buy into the Hollywood schmaltz.

The 67-year-old former Sweden and Nigeria coach has brought more attention to Iceland’s first ever appearance at a major championships by criticising the play- acting of Cristiano Ronaldo and his Real Madrid team-mate Pepe.

Gomes plays a simple one-two on the right and is sent scuttling up towards the byline. He looks up and spies Nani running towards the near post and picks him out perfectly. Nani sidefoots home, first-time, to Halldorsson’s left. Iceland were caught napping on the left there. Nani finished well though. Can’t always be said of him.

What a moment this is. Iceland have a rare foray forwards. Perhaps because Portugal are already playing with their slippers on, they just don;t close Savarsson, who whips an inswinging ball in with his left-foot to Bjarnason, Iceland’s best player so far, who sweeps home from six yards. But Vieirinha’s positioning was woeful. He was too far in front of the ICeland winger. Still, lets focus on Iceland;s joy. The crowd go bonkers. Quite rightly.

That’s one full round. Not many goals but still immensely interesting. A lot of good goal keeping that’s for sure. Plus I heard the grass is too new. That will change this week as the grass gets more trampled... like the bruised egos (looking at you Ronaldo).
