I have indeed recommended that specific option to people in the past, realizing that some people would simply be happier with a Macmachine than having to deal with the difficulties present in their 'doze machines.
Some people love operating 4x4 pickups, cruising the Autobahn (sp?), or running about in a Hummer. Others need to stick with their VW Bug. Really.
So yes, I have come to the realization over the years that for the purposes some people need their computers for, a Mac is a perfectly acceptable option, and if working with a 'doze machine is too much trouble for them then they will never be comfortable in a 'nix environment. If it works for them, then it just works -and happy that they are content we should all be.
I’m using the same iMac I bought in 2011.
Apple has updated the operating system twice and so far, there have been no bugs, no attacks, just smooth sailing.
There are no Apple stores hereabouts in the Ozarks. I bought the machine directly from Apple and had my son (in Seattle) walk me through via two or three phone calls. He spec’ed the machine and I’m grateful for that.
