you don’t have to hate people to want to wipe them out. I don’t hate cockroaches, I just don’t want them anywhere near me. Not a huge fan of bats or lava either. It is an unfortunate fact of life that people must fight. Ideas, bad ideas, are the most powerful and destructive force out there. In order to crush the idea, unfortunately you have to break a lot of eggs. The Crusaders knew this. Valiant and noble men all of them. They have given us these many generations of peace we have squandered.

It was not just the Crusaders. Consider the Spanish that drove the Muslims from Spain. Those that defended the Gates of Vienna in 1529 and 1683. The ones who fought at the battle of Lepanto.
There were the U.S. Marines that won against the Muslim states on the Barbary coast of North Africa, the British Empire and Churchill with the River War in the Sudan and then in WWI.
It has been a long fight. We beat them down, then a hundred years later they become convinced that if they just are more true believers than the last group, they will win, and you have to beat them down again.
