Latins love their Caudillos.
There may be some caudillismo in Trump’s appeal, but this isn’t Mexico or any other Latin American country. They don’t love their caudillos, they vote for them, because they are the only thing available. They know the caudillo will do nothing for them and the best they can hope for is that he will leave them alone.
I’m not sure that’s the thing in play here. Just my opinion.
