It is clear that this is just Rowling bowing down to pressure to be politically correct.
She changed Dumbledore to gay, just before he died.
Now she had changed Hermione to black.
Both are very clear attempts to please the gods of political correctness.
Retconning classic characters offends fans, and it doesn’t mollify politically correct crowds because it is never enough until all fiction is their message fiction.
So don’t give them an inch ... a rewritten phrase.
