Had to dig for the money quote, but here it is:

The new therapy uses stem cells called SB623 cells, extracted from the bone marrow of donors and then modified to make them suitable for insertion into the brain.

Adult, not embryonic stem cells.

To date, I don't think there is a single successful application of embryonic stem cells. They are just simply too active and uncontrollable. The most successful applications I've read about so far involve a person's own stem cells.
