My father, a great lawyer from Chicago, has passed away.

I just have a few words to say about my father. He recently passed away.

I am doing something bad (in FR), because I am posting, and then going to bed. And hopefully falling asleep. Although I will have my tablet. So I won't be posting and running. ;) :)

haven't slept much since my father died. I was just wondering, how do you deal with becoming an adult orphan? When there is no one you can call for advice?

Whenever I see the Cubs, Sox, Blackhawks, Bulls, and later, "da Bears," I want to call him. I cannot even remember how many sporting events my sister and I attended with him and my mom, or his friends... he was a sports fanatic.

Just wondering how you deal with losing a parent. I want a sign. Where is he?

I believe in Christ, I believe in Heaven, but suddenly, when someone who is close to you is torn away... it's just ... difficult and sad.

So what have you done? How did you deal with this?

You get used to it. You never get over it.

My dad is gone more than twenty years, and I still miss him all the time. But I am a family elder now, and I have a duty to be one of the ones others can come to. I’m up at bat. It will be a joy to rejoin both my earthly father and my Heavely Father one day, if I am so blessed.

I have lost both my parents. I did not live close to them from the time I was in my early twenties, but kept in close touch with them. I did not always have the plane fare to visit them and they only visited me a couple of times because they could not afford trips either. I was born late in their lives and they died pretty young. We talked on the phone almost every week.

I missed them when they died. I loved them and it hurt my heart to lose them. It was worse for my sisters who lived near to them and had a lot of routines involving our parents.

He’s in heaven with Jesus, doing finer than ever before. You just have to go through the grief of missing him until you see him again in heaven. I don’t know any shortcuts. The good news about love is that it is precious and feels good; the bad news is separation from that love when a loved one passes, hurts. I find that eating right and exercise helps me when I am dealing with difficult emotions.

I'm sorry about your Dad and my prayers are with you and your family. I lost my Mom and Dad years ago...I miss them very much. You're lucky to have recognized your time was running short and to spend as much time as you could, I recognized it as well and am thankful for the time I had with them...many refuse to see that and have a lifetime of regrets.
