Dog tests positive for meth, heroin
TUSTIN, Calif. A dog picked up during an arrest in Tustin, California has tested positive for methamphetamine and heroin, authorities said.
Tustin Police Lt. Robert Wright tells CNN that the dog named Bubba was found in a hotel room after officers served an arrest warrant for Joshua West, 40, on March 22 in Orange County.
West was on parole for drug violations, said Wright. Police reported illegal drugs were found in the room along with used needles.
The dog was turned over to Orange County Animal Care (OCAC) and transported to its facility. Police say they were contacted later that the dog may have been under the influence of drugs.
CNN affiliate KCBS/KCAL reports that animal control officers noticed the dog was acting lethargic.
Wright says Bubbas urine was tested and the results came back positive for meth and heroin.
This strikes me as pretty horrible. This is the first time weve ever heard of someone reporting that an animal has been under the influence, Wright told the affiliate.
Authorities do not know how the drugs got into the dogs system.
Tustin Police say they have asked the Orange County District Attorney to charge West with animal cruelty along with illegal drug possession. Hes already been booked into the Orange County jail for the outstanding warrant, said Wright.
Once Bubba recovers, OCAC says the terrier mix will be put up for adoption, according to the affiliate.
The owner should be shot.

The singles apartment complex where I lived had a cat that roamed in and out of apartments, the doors being left open often in the evenings. Some folks were smoking a little weed when the cat came in. One of us picked up a paper bag, blew pot smoke into it, and put the bag over the cat’s struggling head for a few seconds. The cat bolted out of the apartment.
A few minutes later, the cat returned and tried to push his head back into the bag.
Oh this is sad for this dog...really, but :
The dog’s name is Bubba??? And found in a hotel room??? Ok, who does that sound like???
It’s OK in California and most other states for a mother to use drugs and pass on the addiction and birth defects to the child.
But a dog that may have been in a room where someone was using .... Oh yeah that’s a NO NO
Stupid country

That dog looks so sweet. Far too sweet to be subjected to morons like this. Lock up whoever did this to the dog. Their best use would be either as a subject for medical research or as compost.
The poor dog. I hope some animal charity is able to take him in and help him through withdrawal, get him healthy, so then he can be adopted by some compassionate, decent humans.
Gut shot and left to die in a cold, lonely place...
Why would you even admit that in a public place?
“Admit” it? LOL
Just shameless, I guess.
Poor little pup.
“The owner should be shot.”
I was going to say something - but you said it perfectly.
You’d be amazed by how many scummy, soulless maggots “stone” their pets, thinking it’s funny...even more give them booze.
Evil creeps, the whole lot of them.
Owner should be tortured and shot.
I am on it. I have friends.
This dog is doing fine and they are giving him good care to work through his withdrawal. I Just checked and got good news.
And sometimes they give meth to their three month old infants. Was two jobs ago that I ran into that...
and don’t forget “drugs” too =)
Yep sure reminds me of someone.
Demons.
All of them.
