Where I have an apartment in NYC, there's an area called Curry Hill because of the Indian restaurants (a play on Murray Hill which is the real neighborhood). Recently, a Vietnamese sandwich shop opened, a real dive, got a good review in the newspapers, and the lines are around the block. BUT! We now get these delicious sandwiches on a fairly regular basis. The meat and veg come with an incredibly crisp baguette from a famous bakery - Cat something or other. Liz would probably know. We also have a banh mi shop here in NJ but I haven't tried it yet. Eying the baguettes, they just seemed like nasty old heroes to me.

All of them here use nothing but fresh made daily baguettes.
That is the bit that will plow your diet, not the pork.

I love when they smear the liver pate on there like mayo.
Yom!
