Lefties have much more consideration besides raw stuff. His point was there are probably aces out there that are never going to get the chance to get into the big leugues because they don’t light up the radar gun. Because a lot of scouts and orginazions have this cookie-cutter approach, and if you don’t fit you don’t get a chance.

I was referring to Maddox as a pitcher starting out today versus the pitcher he was.

A good pitcher, not hard thrower, today is worth tons because of the free swinging attitude of managers and hitters. One of the reasons Torre was a great manager is that he did not allow free swinging in the playoffs and WS. As a result they made the other team change how they pitched and wond playoff games and series where the other team had mor talent but were simply out coached,
