The attempt to get everyone to a single version is not a bad thing.... Apple saves millions upon millions now that they give away the OS on their PC’s.... When they get a tech support call for a version that’s been replaced and it turns out its a legitimate issue or known bug in that version, they simply tell the user upgrade to the latest OS... done.
MS is trying to get there, but the problem is 8 was such a fustercluck that no one who had to live through that is going to want to leave 7 if they can help it... regardless of all the “spying” allegation stuff about 10.
METRO was a fine interface for a tablet, its abjectly stupid on a PC.... I don’t want METRO anywhere near my desktop. Windows 10 may not be as bad as windows 8, but its still got the stupid tile/touch/metro zombie on it... I want none of it.... I won’t upgrade my windows 7 PC.... and because MS keeps trying to force Metro on me, my next laptop will simply be a mac.
I am sure eventually I will run into a situation where I may do some dedicated development for Windows in the future, and if I do then and only then will I buy another windows PC.
I don't use the metro tile things and there is virtually no difference in daily use than with win 7. My desktop looks and acts like it did in 7.
There were quite a few driver updates that Toshiba put out prior to the 8.1 but the 10 was seamless.
IE did not work on 8.1 and does not work on 10 (at least on this laptop). The only software that I had to update was my norton from comcast.
I have 2 laptops and 1 netbook all running win 10 and no problems. I did turn off the spyware.
I also think the win 10 is faster.
I like the Metro Browser on my Surface Pro 2, I don’t want to loose it by going from 8.1 to 10. Is there a way to keep it going under Windows 10?
