I'm not the best guy to ask since over-lubrication is my way of telling my gun I care for it. But my use is in a very friendly environment with no real penalties for it - not a lot of grit in the air where I shoot and I don't expect to be conducting desert warfare any time soon. If you do shoot in the desert or the subzero tundra, lubricate accordingly.

I've used everything from Tetra-Lube to sewing machine oil. Anal lube is right out. Or so I've been told.

I do the same thing -- and when I'm hearing that I should be sparing with the lube on a particular gun, I'm afraid that that one will feel like I love it less.
