When I think about the VP candidates, I think about who I want to see running for President in 2024. Cruz was my top choice until he went freaky. The choice now is not so clear.

Newt would be a solid choice IMO.

Trump would be able to keep Newt on the reservation, and curb any momentary brain farts Newt was prone to have in the past.
