Cross-continental journey first-ever and longest-ever real world ride for the Batmobile

The world-famous, iconic Batmobile was recently spotted in Istanbul, travelling cross-continental for the first time via the newest Bosphorus Bridge.

The feat was backed by Turkish Airlines, which brought the Batmobile to its base country to celebrate the release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly anticipated action adventure movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Batmobile travelled from Europe to Asia by crossing the Bosphorus Strait via the new Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge which officially opens to the public this summer. This marked the longest-ever ride for the one-of-a-kind vehicle.

“The ride across the newest Bosphorus bridge is symbolic of how the Batmobile unites people worldwide as a pop culture icon, how Istanbul is the one and only city connecting two continents, and how Turkish Airlines bridges passengers globally to 113 countries and more than 287 destinations,” said M. Ilker Aycı, Turkish Airlines' Board Chairman.

“This is an opportunity for us to introduce our precious city, Istanbul and our newest bridge to the world. The Batmobile is one of the most symbolic movie icons of all time, and has now connected the world with Istanbul,” added M. Ilker Aycı.

The Batmobile ride across the Bosphorus is one of many promotional events Turkish Airlines is hosting as the Official Airline Partner for Warner Bros. Pictures’ action adventure Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The movie experience is also extended to fans inflight through a 777 Turkish Airlines wrapped in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice livery; limited-edition Turkish Airlines Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice-themed amenity kits; a Time Out travel guide for the airline’s newest “destinations,” Gotham City and Metropolis; inflight menu items; and a special edition frequent flyer Miles & Smiles card.

In the movie, which hit theatres worldwide in March, a key scene features Wonder Woman aboard a 777 Turkish Airlines plane. Additionally, an advertisement announcing Turkish Airlines’ newest “destinations,” Gotham City and Metropolis, featured the film’s stars Ben Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg, garnering more than 50 million online views worldwide.

Been there, crossed the old bridge, and even did the ferry crossing.

The world-famous, iconic Batmobile ,/i>

The ONLY "iconic" Batmobile was the one that Adam West and Burt Ward ran in the '60s.

I’m sorry... I’m old just like all of you people.

But the Tumble is my batmobile. And since it was designed for crossing rivers where bridges had been knocked out I would found it and the article more appropriate that way.

Also, I meant to type “Tumbler” but didn’t catch it in time.

But my final statement is that only a muslim-run country and a muslim-run business would be so tacky to buy the Batmobile.

What is this, Mexico City Airlines ?

... you mean you wouldn’t have bought the Batmobile for yourself if you could?

But the Tumble is my batmobile.

Well, despite the fact that I like the '66 Batmobile being powered by a personal nuclear reactor and has flames coming out the back, I am actually partial to the rolling arsenel '65 Imperial known as "The Black Beauty", complete with machine guns, missle launchers, armor all around and a built in remote controlled drone ("Sentinel").

No, not quite. That car wasn’t my cup of tea. I’m 40 so batman was on reruns in a time that Dukes were on, Bandit was in the theaters and airbrushed Star Wars vans were all around me.

Although in comparison to the original Monkee Mobile - the Batmobile was a winner.

Why would that thing be running a road course with rear mud tires?

Believe it or not, there is actually a place in Turkey called Batman. Wonder if they’ll bring it there?
