If you wanted to alter the US military, in a social way, where would you go first? The officers. And West Point offers a huge opportunity to ‘get ‘em while they’re young’.
I was there ‘88-’92, and there already were ‘clubs’ that catered to blacks only...and they had just started a post graduate program for commissioned officers, in ‘leadership’...modern style ‘leadership’, that is. BTW, those Captains in that program are Brigadier generals now.
And I had one instructor in some social science class who wouldn’t quit yammering on about healthcare. This was circa 1990, an wasn’t a big issue. I kept wondering why he thought it was such a big deal. A few years later, Hillary is trying to get a healthcare bill passed, and my ex-professor is on TV as an expert talking head - straight out of West Point.
That was 25 years ago. I can’t imagine what its like now.

If a picture were to surface with a group of Cadets from Mississippi holding a STATE FLAG and pointing to the Confederate Portion of it, the headline would not quite read “We are looking into it”.
Of course these blacks may have done this as a ‘gag’ (say a ‘we made it’) but their privacy ended the day one of the idiots posted it on line.
Of course take both scenarios and it doesn’t take an Einstein to figure out and Ray Charles could see which group gets rained on and which one gets ‘puffed’ and swept ‘quietly’ under the rug.
