In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
Jeremiad
Noun
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

I don’t think you want to go there.
I’m not gloating. I know it sucks. Still, it is amazing hockey being played all around. And it can turn around.
Awesome.
The whole Book of Jeremiah is a jeremiad! :-)
How about adding a holiday for our Mexican friends called President James K. Polk DAY!
amazing how every lucky bounce goes the Pens way. xshub commenting on how the pens defense sucks, but we just can’t seem to get around it. I know the other series think that they are in contention, but this really does feel like the finals, doesn’t it?
Thanks! :-)
Hockey is an amazing game because when it works, it looks so effortless; but when players miss a connection on a sure-fire goal, or a goalie makes a miracle save, it looks so darn impossible.
In the playoffs with players diving to try to interrupt every shot, it’s even more frustrating.
When players re-direct a shot on its way to the goal, you know they’re just putting the stick out there and praying. Sometimes the hockey gods answer.
it is amazing, and as xshub likes to point out, hockey is the only sport in which sometimes the best team does NOT win. There is so much more involved than in other sports.
You rang?
Don’t tell that to the 1969 Colts.
they still alive?
Surely some of them are. :-)
Any sport where there are a lot of games can have days where the “best” team doesn’t win. Heck, the “best” baseball team wins only 60% or so of the time.
Football is actually the one where upsets are least likely. And most consequential, since they don’t play series.
LOL!
May I suggest a word tioga? “mendacious’’, adjective. To lie, to be routinely untruthful. To say Hillary Clinton is mendacious would be the understatement of the ages.
“Felix Cinco de Cuatro” ~BHO ca.2009
My family didn’t/doesn’t do anything special for Cinco de Mayo, and we are Hispanic/Latino-I never understood why something that went on in another country and wasn’t earthshaking was a big deal here...
Hillary is not going to change-
She thinks there is some gain
In the same jeremiad speeches
That sound ever more insane
She’s trying to outdo Bernie
She’ll give us all everything
And if we don’t make her queen
We’ll be enslaved by that VRW
She says she’ll fire the miners
And pay them well-but it’s funny
That she hasn’t got a single clue
About where she’d find the money...
