Trump is up BIG in polls in California....

I think the stomping and waving of the Mexican Flags here in Orange County helped him hugely!

So I thought this was interesting too!

Chain the guy to a coal fueled power plant for a year. He has LONG been off the rational, logical basis of Science.

He asserted that his predictions were not based upon models but “observable evidence.”

In other less highfallutin’ words; anecdote. The true zealots for this cause are generally far more technical and able to cite all manner of measurements that have been taken....over the past 150 or so years (a blink of an eye in climate terms) when instrumentation whose readings might plausibly be believed was available. In every single case I have seen (and that does not mean all of them that exist because I have not read all that exist) ALL of that data has been fudged, rounded, morphed, data-deleted or massaged into AGW-favorable form. Or in the case of East Anglia & Michael Mann, simply lied about.

“James Hansen is not impressive at all. If he is the best the Greens have, we conservatives should win this fight. The whole CAGW scam is based upon speculation and the veneer of science.”

More powerfully (and this why the opposition case seems so hard to impart to the AGW faithful) it is an appeal to the idea that they are on this superior moral pedestal to you and all those evil deniers. They care about the earth and you dont. You want to shove Granny over the cliff into a boiling cauldron of molten lava fueled by racial hatred. So someone like you with your anti-humanist tendencies can never hope to see the enlightened and and altruistic viewpoint they have decided to adopt. It’s a feel good exercise for lazy people who want to do the heavy lifting with their wailing and damn any application of rationality. Because thinking hurts!

His main assertion was that the ice sheets were melting ...

Sweet pictures.

Not proof, though, unless it was high tide in both photos. :)

I guess the articles did nothing to bolster my point.

How about these pictures then?

(photo taken by John L. Daly at mean tide, Aug 29, 1999. Benchmark is 50 cm across)

If you look at the shadows cast in each picture, both pictures appear to have been taken at the same time of day, ergo the tide level would be the same.

How do these scientists explain it when the ‘sea level’ goes UP in one area, and DOWN in another ?

From Wikipedia:

************************Isle of the Dead (German: Die Toteninsel) is the best-known painting of Swiss Symbolist artist Arnold Böcklin (1827–1901). Prints of the work were very popular in central Europe in the early 20th century—Vladimir Nabokov observed in his novel Despair that they were to be "found in every Berlin home".[1]

Böcklin produced several different versions of the mysterious painting between 1880 and 1886.

That article goes a long way towards answering your question. But the best article I know of that explains how sea level is accurately measured, which precisely answers your question, is this one...

Claim That Sea Level Is Rising Is a Total Fraud

Oh, FWIW, the tides are not the same every day at the same times of the day. In fact they vary quite a bit. Check the Farmer's Almanac for tide charts.

That’s pretty cool. I wonder if it was the painting or the name of it that made everybody want one? Isle of the Dead sounds so mysterious. People were really fascinated with the mysteries of the world in the 1800s. In a more romanticized way than they are now at any rate.

Was Bill Nye even really a Mechanical Engineer or was he just a Walter White kind of guy who taught it in a high school? He’ll probably make more money in Glowbull Warming than cooking meth though although the product is more of a fraud.
