As someone who has read Marvel Comics since the mid sixties, I would expect Black Panther (even pre genius/inventor retcon) to wipe the floor with Bucky. Bucky is an interesting character, but he isn’t likely to best the Panther without help a sympathetic script writer.

Sorry, ghosthost... but, as someone who actually has read every single Marvel superhero comics from the '60s and '70s, sans exception -- yes, I'm exactly that big a lifelong geek, thank you ;) -- Edd has it exactly right: Bucky could no more win out over Black Panther in a fair fight than Ant-Man could take on Thor. Them's the facts.

Thank you - yes, Black Panther would only be threatened by the Winter Soldier in a prepared ambush - in a hand-to-hand contest, Bucky loses big time. Not a racial statement; Bucky has training and a vibranium-enhanced arm going for him, while Black Panther has training, mystical arts and inherited superpowers.
Good grief, I am sounding like this comic thing is important! LOL

This. I abhor political correctness but this is wholly consistent with the way the characters have been portrayed since the beginning.
