There are some very intelligent responses to this BS that a citizen has a responsibility to make sure that there is due process for an aggressive criminal in a situation of defending one's life.
I live in a rural area, with only a few sheriff’s deputies to patrol hundreds of square miles. Law enforcement officers only clean up the aftereffects of any crime. Not complaining, it’s just the way it is. That being said, any criminal thug stupid enough to break into my home is only entitled to the business end of my gun and its appropriate ammunition. Thank you, Texas Castle Doctrine.
Even before this was made state law, a former county sheriff would let the rural residents know his office could not get to anyone in time to stop a crime. He said shoot first and drag the body inside. He may have been law enforcement, but he was a realist first and foremost.
If a violent criminal attacks me I do not want him to have a fair trial. I want him dead via 100 grains of lead moving at 1475 feet per second.
My right to stay alive trumps your right to a fair trial. Period.
Sheesh
I bet the author thinks so, too, or would in the heat of that hypothetical moment while with gun in hand.
Dear God! Maybe when Arianna Huffington sees the bullet zinging toward her forehead she will realize that she was wrong about shooting in self-defense.
