For myself, I find it difficult to justify sentences in excess of ten years. The death penalty should be used for any crimes that call for longer sentences, and any real criminal reform would start by making prisons far less hospitable to the inhabitants.
If someone can’t be reformed in ten years, then time to cull the herd.
Capital punishment also serves as a deterrent to other criminals. Abortion can’t be compared.
Lots of law enforcement in my family who serve in NY state. With no death penalty, there is no line to cross. When killing cops or civilians carries no additional sentence than what you’re already gonna get for selling felony amounts of drugs, why not do it?
How much “Gun Violence” will Obama, Hillary, Bern and other Liberals be willing to inflict to prevent “Gun Violence” in America? If a law is passed (executive order or court edict?) that outlaws all firearms for the common populace and effectively repeals the 2nd Amendment, how shall it be enforced (root word FORCE)? Will armed police and/or military go house to house searching for the now illegal guns (using guns and even heavier weapons I presume)? This will by default, result in the complete destruction of entire The Constitution, not just the 2nd Amendment! Will deadly force be an option against those who may resist? How many casualties among the enforcers and the resisters will be enough to complete the disarming of the American populace? How much blood and sorrow will it require?
To sum... How much “gun violence” will our rulers (for now they will RULE and no longer govern) be willing to inflict on the citizens, how much death, maiming and imprisonment (using government guns) will be required to prevent the “epidemic” of “gun violence” in our society?

I think of myself as “anti-abortion on demand”. I don't think of myself as “pro-life” because I believe some people “need Killin’”. Killed, not murdered.
I think some people may be “pro-life” in that they oppose abortion, execution, killing in self defense, etc., but many so called pro-life people have acquiesced to a term applied to them by their opponents so they can be tripped up.

People do not succeed at suicidal gestures because they foolishly chose a firearm (or jumping). People who wish to succeed choose a firearm (or jumping from a tall building if firearms are not available) because their goal is to succeed.
Myself I am now at the point where I don’t care if liberals abort, birth control, suicide, and euthanize themselves out of existence.
If anything they’re doing the rest of us a favor.
A good question. Also why do they complain of cop killing people outside due process, so called, but then are for abortion privacy and yet for violating women’s privacy with transgenders impersonating?

This is dirt simple, both intellectually and morally:
1) Abortion is the taking of the life of an unborn child, who did nothing wrong to anyone. There can be legitimate arguments about rape or incest, about danger to the mother’s life, birth defects, etc., but that doesn’t apply most of the time - it is an issue of “convenience.” IOW, it is killing another because people don’t wish to deal with the consequences of having fun - like adults.
2) The death penalty is both a penalty to those who purposely choose to unjustifiably end an innocent’s life, and a deterrent to those who might think about doing so. It is ALL about taking responsibility for one’s actions.
3) Guns - this is also ALL about taking responsibility for one’s actions. Gun owners take responsibility for their own safety, not relying upon police officers to put their own lives at risk (if possible); it is also about someone CHOOSING to commit a crime of violence, and having to deal with someone defending their life, their family’s lives and their property - ALL of which is justifiable. If animals and plants can utilize lethal means to defend themselves (yes, plants do it - some are poisonous), then we humans have the same right.
Anyone opposed to these views is either woefully misinformed, or an immoral blissninnie.
Liberal gays are antigun because they are oredators who want unprotected children. So called conservative gays are provun because they want to defend their lives. The liberal myth of the gay victim is a myth because they are antigun. It only is a ploy for nany government to intervene to protect the bully and thus control the law abiding from ever revolting and uniting against corruption
The key phrase is “innocent human life”, and involves a discussion on morality.. And that is where you will lose your liberal ideologues.
Abortion destroys innocent human life, which is fundamentally immoral.
Guns are a amoral (meaning ‘without’ intrinsic morality one way or the other) tool that can be used both to defend innocent human life, which is moral, or immorally in the destruction of human life. And to deny the moral use of guns to defend innocent human life IS immoral.
As far as suicide goes, that doesn’t involve innocence. Fighting evil in mortal combat is moral. And executions, just war and self defense are sanctioned uses of killing in the bible.
