Virtual reality is a piece of tech that although drastically updated and re-introduced to the masses in 2016, probably wont take-off properly for another year or two. It faces a few issues that will take time to overcome, namely cost and experiences.
Virtual reality at the level of Oculus Rift and HTC Vive is expensive, but that cost will come down as the kit gets cheaper to make and more people buy it. The lack of engaging experiences is simply down to the tech being so new and developers getting to grips with how best to use it.
The video below shows us the potential VR has to provoke a very emotional response, and although simple, its very encouraging [sic] for the future.

Ever read “1984”? We’re a little behind schedule.
Mud’s women, lol. That lady was great at being just the girl who sends a man into space...forever.
Wow, at the end of the VR demo she’s literally shaking like a leaf!
On YOUTUBE you can find a lot of travel videos. Some are just people with camera that walk down a city street (like in Paris or London). Some are even 360 so you can turn and look at your surroundings.
I think something like Googles Street view in 3D would be nice. To be able to visit anywhere in the world and get a feeling on what it is like is something I would enjoy.
Today with Google street view and Youtube videos I have travel to many places I would not be able to see otherwise (I have also used them to plan vacations here in the US).
Of as others have pointed out, it will be the ADULT ENTERTAINMENT industry that will drive 3D technology.
(Oh, the developers can leave out SMELL-O-VISION on the travel videos ;)
It’s the first thing that came to mind when you combine screaming woman with virtual reality.

Renata needs a few lessons on conserving ammo.
Not to mention wasted shots.
Headshots, kid! You shoot like a bloody girl!!!
*ducks the female FReepers* *snicker*
JMHo
Yup. Porn has driven the leading edge of all modern visual media technologies.
I’ve dabbled in VR for decades. Fantastic concepts, very immersive & engaging. It will need a “killer app”, affordable pricing, and market penetration - all coming together soon. Google’s “cardboard” project is a great step, using what people already have; pity developers seem behind the curve.
How stupid! You do something like that and it scares you until you have a heart attack and die! Wonder how high her blood pressure was at the end?

Check out her VR “shaking” gun hand at the 3:00 mark...mirrored her shaking hand in real time.
Had my heart pumping a little.
Kramer: You scream good.
Chelsea: You too!
Great for training for dangerous scenarios.
What better way to reduce the influence of the higher functioning in global society than to keep their young occupied “video games”...and not breeding “porn”....
ps....video games “1st person expecil..”...actually reduce endorphin response over time....”like meth but more subtle “....leaving the subject less unmotivated in real life.
as clintoon said”the U.S. needs to be brought down to a more equatable level to compete fairly with the 3rd world nations’...
yep
oh well
its very encouraging [sic] for the future.
