Define “highly accurate”. I’ve been in IT Sales for 25 years and have no idea what you’re referring to.

Can you please tell me what you would mean by an “inaccurate” drive?
Are you worried about bump compensation, having to reburn, or what? The items I just mentioned have nothing to do with “accuracy.”

I don’t have a recommendation on burners but what I can tell you is ‘Verbatim’ brand CD or DVD blanks are the most reliable digital discs to burn music or movies on.

I purchased a Pawtec last year. Usb and needs no piggyback power and is 100% plug and play. I’m running windows 10 and was running 8 when purchased.

This guy is pretty accurate. A bit slow, though.

You should be asking about archival quality DVDs. They are gold, not silver, and several bucks PER DISK.
Go to a site that is involved with archiving documents (such as legal documents) to disk. They should be able to recommend media brands and burner brands.

Here is a site that specializes in providing archive media. It should give you a start.

Dude....its 1’s and 0’s——it either burns or not

If you happen to come across a MadDog DVD burner for sale on Ebay or elsewhere, don't buy it. The company went out of business years ago and there is no support if you need it.
With that being said, I have one and have had no problems with it.......go figure.

Hmm. Not at all trying to be a smart-ass. Never thought there would be an issue with accuracy. Thought it was all a bunch of 1’s and 0’s. I’d think the CD itself would be the important piece here.

Accuracy is not an obvious attribute for a burner. Please explain what you want it to do better than the typical burner might do.

Optical media is dead or dying. Find some other way to store your data ASAP. I'd suggest a Network Attached Storage array or even just a couple of big mirrored hard drives.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I second the motion for Taiyo Yuden. You may also want to look for a good-condition Plextor 716 or 760. 800 series is said to be good as well but I don’t have first-hand experience with them. 4x-8x burn speed. Laugh all you want, but jitter/error is practically nil. With Plex Tools software it’s mastering quality — true industry standard.

If you are that worried about accuracy, use burner software that has a Verify option.

How do you determine accuracy? These days, even "cheapo" burners will do Blu-Ray - very tight and multi-layer.
Don't overspend on some idea that expensive is better - unless you have a business that requires lots of discs which is doubtful as you wouldn't be asking us at FR for advice.
