Everyone thinks that just because a guy has good size and is thick and somewhat more athletic than a tackle or a fullback, that they would be a “great TE” in the pros.
Got news, it takes way the hell more than that, there are hundreds of big, fast, strong, athletic 6-7, 270lb guys but only a few Gronks who can actually be great TEs—and that includes blocking like tackles and guards, catching like WRs, running like big bulls, and lasting a whole season without getting beat to shit.
Tebow is not big enough, not quick enough, knows nothing about blocking or truly delivering a blow on LBs and safeties, and he proved he has no hands.
Tells you how steep the pyramid gets in the pros, when hundreds of guys like Tebow—and many much better than him—can’t make an NFL team, even a bad one.
The suggestion that a team should pick up Tebow as a tight end or a fullback or some other position has always puzzled me too. The idea that he could come in and beat out people who have been playing the position for years in high school and college doesn't make any sense at all.
