Way back when, the Freeper book club dissected Atlas Shrugged.
As time goes on in the election season, I can't help but draw comparisons to her book, and what is happening today.
For those who wish to do some reading, I suggest this thread:

Specifically post number two which is a chapter by chapter analysis.
Atlas Shrugged turned out to be a playbook for the left.
That is all.
I hate liberals.

Atlas Shrugged turned out to be a playbook for the left.
Atlas Shrugged, 1984, and Animal Farm turned out to be playbooks for the left. It’s sad.

They are copying everything needed to bring the country down. Reasonable voices are silenced, and all deference is given to them (the left).
I’m working contract and can bring limited book with me. Atlas Shrugged, Animal Farm and 1984, plus the Bible, are the four I brought with me.
Do we still have a Freeper book club? I would like to join it.
I have a couple of SSI patches.
Bump.
Bernie’s answer to the question of how he would break up the banks was classic looter mentality. He said he had no idea; he wasn’t a banker. It was for the banks to figure out how to break themselves up and save the country. Read the NY Daily news editorial board transcript here:
I don’t know why it didn’t show up as clickable. I did a copy/paste.
The body of post 1 has no html. It is never clickable.
It is amusing but sad how the left has explicitly rejected even the idea of doing that logical check. It's now a purely emotional "check your privilege".
It was the joy of being part of that book club.
I brought the same list, plus the Complete Shakespeare and the Complete Sherlock Holmes on a long trip.
To quote Milo Yianapolis, your feelings don’t have rights.
And we shouldn’t give rights based on feelings, since they can be irrational and doing so gives the veto to the most hysterical person in the room.

It’s come up again on FR. Any progress?
I bought a copy of it or whatever it became off Amazon.
Good reading.
Have my Galt/Taggart bumper sticker on my Jeep. Brother has Rearden steel.
I always wonder if current admirers of Atlas Shrugged, like Paul Ryan, understand what a huge ATHEIST Rand was.
Or, if they understand how—in an apparently delusional state (Borderline Personality Disorder?)—she demanded her protegee, Nathaniel Brandon, 20 years her junior, divorce his wife and marry her. (It didn’t happen. Instead the episode shattered the Objectivist movement in about 1969.)
Rand’s Aristotle fetish is also something most people grow out of by the time they are college freshmen.
It is true she hated socialism and communism, courtesy of the USSR. But her flaws argue that she should not be placed on a very high pedestal.
And yes, I have read every word she ever wrote, even her newsletters back in the day.
