I’m a veteran urban public high school teacher, and I’ll say this. A male student gets angry, and you’ve got a problem. A female student gets angry, and you’ve got a problem squared.

The worst hallway fights I’ve seen were always between two girls (problems to the fourth power).

My son is a freshman at a public high school. He has seen two fights, both between girls, this year. To the school’s credit, they were broken up within a minute by teachers. Some people just want to be transferred to continuation school or expelled, I guess. I’m sorry this happened, but I guess he needs to see what some people are really like, especially since he has been considering going into law enforcement.

Teaching, btdt. I also used to work with juvies on their way to state facilities. One would think they’d be on their best behavior knowing you would decide where they spent the next few years of their sorry lives. But, nooooo. No one wanted to deal with the girls. Boys can be reasoned with. Girls had just as soon kill you as look at you.
