I one of my son’s high school notebooks, he sketched a little contorted face. Captioned it “AP Calculus hurts!”.

Teaching, btdt. I also used to work with juvies on their way to state facilities. One would think they’d be on their best behavior knowing you would decide where they spent the next few years of their sorry lives. But, nooooo. No one wanted to deal with the girls. Boys can be reasoned with. Girls had just as soon kill you as look at you.

LOL, it sure does. But I tell my students this: All the little symbols in calculus, chemistry, and physics translate into the same thing. I get puzzled looks from my students. I wait a moment, then I tell them all those symbols translate into dollar signs.
