Champagne was known where I cut my teeth (the US Army in the 60’s) as nothing more than liquid panty remover.
The higher the price of the panties, the higher price of the champagne.

And I don’t mean that in a derogatory way, in Saigon you would be asked if you wanted to buy that girl a bottle of champagne? The price dictated what girl you got.
