I watch The Walking Dead more for the survivalist and prepper insights it offers than for the human-zombie battles.
In any post-apocalyptic world (meteor strike, plague, zombies, etc.) the survivors would naturally have to face other survivors. Right now, there are a lot of people in this world that I would NOT want to see running around without adult supervision.
The Walking Dead franchise, more and more, is focused on that weird, violent dynamic. Would your mild-mannered neighbor turn into a petty tyrant, or a cannibal, or a pedophile? Yeah, possibly.
Interesting and instructive.
When it came out I watched it for prepper/survivalist stuff; I just got sick of the PC nonsense with the characters.
I agree. TWD is revealing in its examination of what happens to people in extreme survival situations. Those with characters like Shane, the governor, Negan, and the Terminus gang WILL be a threat once the constraints of polite society are gone.
So, basically, you are taking notes and planning on doing almost everything the opposite of how the people on TWD do it? At its core, it is a soap opera, with violence, automatic weapons and zombies as a back drop. Not complaining; I enjoy watching the show, just saying that it isn't anything less, or more.
Oh great now I have to figure out if my freaking annoying neighbor would be a tyrant, cannibal or pedophile. LOL. Thanks for that DNME. Is food for thought though.
Meh. I have to wonder how a stupid comedy show like The Last Man on Earth could scoop the whole post-apocalyptic genre by pointing out that gasoline decays or degrades over time, so all the Road Warrior type fantasies are just ... fantasies.
