Based on the content of the article, the headline should be "Trump Skipped A Debate to Raise Money for Veterans? Veterans Still Haven't Received Most of the Money" The article states that 2.4 million of the 6 million has been given to vets. This would contradict the headline which states that they have not received their money.

"There is absolutely no accountability here for how Trump will spend this money," RedState's Leon Wolf wrote. "This is how hucksters like Trump operate. Rather than say that he’s going to raise money for a reputable vets organization – of which there are many – he diverts the money to his own sham tax shelter and hopes that his supporters never notice or demand an accounting for what was done with their money, as would be done for any 501 (c)(3) that was set up with the specific purpose for helping vets."

This paragraph implies that no one knows how the remainder has been spent. So maybe the headline should be "Trump Skipped A Debate to Raise Money for Veterans? Veterans Received Some of the Money; the Rest is Unaccounted For."

When the headline contradicts what is presented in the article itself, it is hard to view the writer as honest.

As you say the money appears to be being distributed as it comes in. One issue that isn’t discussed in the article is that all “veterans charities” need to be checked out for legitimacy. My wife and I contribute a lot of time, effort and money to veterans causes and we get calls all the time from groups that are questionable at best and many are outright scams. There are also many organizations that spend the bulk of the money they collect on high paid leadership, TV & radio commercials. It would be an even bigger problem for Trump if some of this money was found to be going to charities that were exposed to be scams.

If anyone is wondering, our personal favorite and an organization we volunteer for is the USO. People think of entertainment for troops when they think of the USO, but the organization does far more than that for veterans and their families. It is 100% legitimate and the volunteers and the work that is done is amazing.
