Exactly the point. I have been disappointed by just about every politician I’ve supported in the past. That’s why I’m supporting someone who isn’t a career politician this time. I’d rather take a chance at something great happening for our country, then play it safe and hope for the best.
I’ve been disappointed enough that I expect it at this point. But if Trump doesn’t do anything else other than build the wall, I’ll be happy with him. Cruz is ineligible, so nothing he could do would please me.
Despite my strong preference for Cruz I will gladly take the pledge to support the GOP nominee.
But I'm afraid that is perhaps a bit too big a pill for Trumpsters and Trumpettes to swallow. Hoping I'm wrong on that.
Face it. Cruz went over to the dark side when he accepted endorsement from the lose with Cruz enthusiasts and even before that when he put Neil Bush on his campaign staff.
Benevolent dictators rarely disappoint; Representative democracy politicians often do. Pick your poison.
It’s going to be Trump. The Cruzaders are going to hit the wall next Tuesday. It’s no more windmill tilting after Tuesday.
My opinion has always been deportation, end sanctuary cities, death penalty, end of welfare for illegals are the key for ending the influx of illegal aliens.
A wall holds people in as much as out. The US is moving toward not allowing citizens to leave along the lines of communist of fascist states. A wall just aids that.
US doesn’t need a wall to stop illegal aliens.
Trump or Cruz are both superior to any Democrat.
But remember, politicians and government can only do so much on the positive side. You can’t expect a candidate to be a savior.
For some reason it doesn’t work the other way. A politician and government can do a lot to make things worse.
That’s why it is important that the Democrats do not regain congress and that a Republican is elected President.
It all may matter nought if we continue murdering unborn children.
If he's the nominee, I'm voting for him. His opponent will be Hillary Clinton and I'm sane.
Trump has a record of being on every side of every issue. At least I know exactly what I’ll get with Cruz.
I sway toward your camp Rufus (who wouldn’t with a name like Rufus :)
The DC machine is corrupt to the core. PC talk rules the day. No one in the news or in politics tells the truth. Cities in the USA celebrate breaking the law. This list is far too numerous to list.
Honestly we are a LOOONNNGGG way from any kind of armed revolution. Things would have to get much, much worse and pervasive and there is at least a modicum of conservatism left in USA politics that try to slow the train wreck of complete socialism. But because conservatism and good values may win the WH, there’s still millions of people to ‘unbrainwash’ about the evils of socialism and tyranny. We still have a ways to go before hitting rock bottom, and its been said only then will true healing start.
I'd prefer Trump and I will vote for Cruz if he's the nominee.
I learned a lesson from Gandolf’s monologue to Frodo in the mines or Moria.
“... all that we have to decided is what to do with the time that is given to us ....”
I can only do what is in my power - voting. So I have decided to use my vote to support the most conservative candidate that is available for me to vote for. If that candidate does not actually support conservative actions in the future, that is not on me.
He has just funded them....
The president is not a dictator. If congress won’t go along with it. Nothing the president wants will get done.
I think that the political question right now is this — can either Trump or Cruz possibly become the type of leader required to mount a successful counter-revolution that begins to push back the over-reaching gains of the socialist revolution that already took place.
The gains to be sought in the first eight years (this is going to take two terms at least) would be climate sanity, some restoration of traditional values in gender issues, an end to the vast expansion of entitlements for non-productive citizens, an end to illegal immigration and removal or integration of those already here, and finally a slowing (hopefully to negative rates through out-migration) of Muslim immigration. I would also add elimination of ISIS but otherwise no engagement in the wars of the Middle East unless to be on the side of stable, pro-western governments.
These changes would put America back on track to being where it was near the end of the Reagan years.
However, I imagine that the process will be fairly close to an open civil war in some parts of the country. It would be the sort of widespread change that would not really touch some places but would promote fundamental changes elsewhere, especially in the cities.
I don’t know if the majority of Americans have the stomach for this sort of counter-revolution. I do know that almost everybody here does.
But look-- Cruz has flipped to Trump's side on every important political issue of this campaign -- which only ARE issues because of Trump. These are:
-- Quadrupling the number of foreign guest workers to help ranchers and farmers get cheap labor: Cruz was for it, and now is against it.
-- Legalizing illegal aliens: Cruz was for it, and now is against it.
-- The Trans-Pacific Partnership deal: Cruz was for it, and now is against it.
-- Building a wall: Cruz was against it, and now is for it.
These are all positions Cruz has changed since being a senator -- most of them he's flipped on only in the last year. I'm supposed to believe that U.S. senators can sincerely change their minds about policies it was their job to know about, but a New York developer can never change his mind about pop-offs he made more than a decade ago.
The lying comes easy for the cultists.
They all disappointed us again and again and again. Ron Johnson, Mia Love, Joni Earst, Marco Rubio. Every single one promised to be tough. Every single one sold out.
Up to this point I have tried not to be negative to Trump or Cruz.
Cruz tries to appear as the anti-establishment conservative candidate. He is or has in the past, been in favor of TPA, TPP, increase in H1B’s and more immigration. Handing out welcome baskets at the border certainly sends mixed messages. Maybe it’s hate the sin - love the sinner.
Then there is Trump.....Warts and all! His past statements and actions have been anything but conservative. Yet he seems to have a great love for this Country. Maybe he is also tired of Washington sell outs.
Either one is far superior to the democrat option.
Trump will ... Cruz won't.
What if Trump or Cruz is elected and manages to control immigration from countries where the citizens hate our way of life?
Both Trump and Cruz are likely to do that ...
What if Trump or Cruz is elected and exposes and rids us of - the corruption in D.C.?
They can try, but both are unlikely to rid us of that in DC.
What if Trump or Cruz is elected and enacts legislation that helps to turn our economy around and bring back jobs?
Both Trump and Cruz are likely to do that ... Trump will be more effective and IMO has the better plan.
What if Trump or Cruz is remembered as at least a Reagan-Lite?
Neither is in the same class as RR ... but could do many things that remind us of him.
On the other hand, what if Trump is what many of his detractors here say he is, a liberal and governs as such?
Then we who voted him in will vote him out ... because of his extraordinary promises ... he has one chance only.
On the other hand, what if Cruz is what many of his detractors here say he is, the establishment and governs as such?
Then we who voted him in will vote him out ... he has one chance only.
Do you believe your preferred candidate will follow through on his promises?
Trump yes, Cruz some.
What if nothing changes?
Vote the scums out ... they have one chance.
Can you name anyone you supported who went on to gain office and later disappointed you?
Tom Ridge (gov. Pa), Bush I, Bush II ...
