What the media fails to realize is their own negative ratings are higher than Trump’s. Also Hillary’s are starting out high and Trump will raise hers by at least 10 points.

Trump can at least beat Hillary into the ground with endless attacks.
Cruz unfavorable rating is worse than Hillary and he hasn't even been attacked by the media or the Dems yet. He absolutely no chance of bringing in new or crossover voters.
Ted is absolutely the most unelectable candidate in the race.

I don’t believe it’s all a conspiracy, but obviously some of these people who view him negatively are still voting for him, since he has more than 30% of the popular vote, so as Hillary would say, “what difference does it make?” :)
