I like comic book movies generally. But lately, the trend has been to make them dark.
I think it worked for the first Batman (with Christian Bale), and the second (mainly because of Heath Ledger’s Joker). But I didn’t care for a darker Spider Man. And I don’t care for Emo Superman.
Not interested in Hard-R Deadpool.
Not interested in seeing Batman v Superman. Reviews say it has no joy.
But I think it was Marvel who killed off the genre.
There are only so many superheroes with box office appeal: Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and maybe there's room for one or two more.
Marvel tried to shove too many comic book movies down people's throats.
Now DC is trying to do the same thing. They don't get that when these movies are as common as dirt they'll be just as palatable as dirt.
One of my grandsons (18) saw the new movie——said it was so-so.
.
Patrick Leahey has a cameo in Batman vs Superman where he gets blown up - that was pretty cool...
I recently rewatched the Christopher Reeve Superman. Compared to today’s dark, edgy superhero movie this was a breath of fresh air. Also, Superman did a lot of super hero stuff, like, you know, saving people. So many modern superheros only manage to do one single heroic thing, making a giant mess in the process that makes it practically worthless, and it is usually to clean up a mess they themselves made in the first place.
“first Batman (with Christian Bale), “
No, it was Michael Keaton.
I like comic book movies, but I hated Deadpool. Should have walked out. Terrible sex and language. Awful!
