When Sundance replaced Mark Levin in the hearts of so many Freepers, I should have taken the hint. The site has become almost totally partisan. That partisanship is leading to such incredible, slanderous commentary that you would have to look twice to see if you are at FR or DU. We talk about a circular firing squad, and here one pops up. We are destroying our chance to move the ultra left out of the White House by trying to destroy each other.
So finally, sadly, I think it is time for me to go, I don't want to be a part of it anymore. I have mostly enjoyed my time here, it used to be a great place, and I was happy to add what little support I could to keeping it up.
To Jim: please check your mail. I sent you a request to delete my account information, but I guess you haven't seen it yet. Good luck with FR and I hope it survives this election cycle without any real bloodshed.

The one I remember the most is the Sandra Fluke incident. He had to know that his comments would hurt him and help Fluke.
I think what happened there, and on other occasions in the past was no "fluke".
He is what he claims to be: an entertainer. However, every once and a while he says enough sensible things to have an opinion that the nation starts listening too, and then he blows a raspberry.
Too coincidental and convenient.

One can only hope. Trump brags about his ability to do an about-face politically, at least on some issues, he is still pro government health care. However anyone that can do a 180 at the drop of a hat, can easily make it a 360 if necessary.
How many times have we supported candidates that campaigned as a conservative only to get a liberal. It seems like if you support a candidate who until 15 minutes ago was an unabashed liberal, your risk that they won’t through on conservative campaign promises is quite high.

Trump isn’t allowed to have a site support him.
There are a lot of people on this site who support Trump. I have no problems with people supporting Trump. I may end up supporting Trump myself before this thing is over.
But what is just absolutely wrong is the manner in which people are hurling the vilest accusations against the candidates without any proof. Every rumor or innuendo is weaponized and launched at the candidate someone doesn't want.
We need to talk about what is great about our preferred candidate, and not talk so much about what is wrong with the other one.
What makes you think that Cruz would be conservative as a Justice of SCOTUS? He has betrayed his family, his faith, and his conservative supporters.
Cruz is definitely NOT a conservative. He is a CON man.
Cruz showed everyone his true character when he entered the race for President. He knew that he did not qualify as a Natural Born Citizen, but he also knew that enough damage had been done to our Constitution by Obama, that he could bluff most of the people into supporting him. That betrayal of conservative principles should have alerted anyone paying attention that Cruz would betray us by siding with the Establishment in secret, while also betraying his family and faith.
At least, on FR the disagreements are mostly civil. One
can disagree without being disagreeable. DU, on the other
hand, at least used to be a truly nasty site where the
“F” word appears (due to poor vocabulary I guess) and the
“F” word appears just about every other word. (I visited
there years ago; but was immediately bounced off as they
tolerate NO real opinion over there that isn’t “Hillary
sanctioned”.

No longer is there back and forth reasoned arguments, but a flurry of insults and canned negative responses that do nothing to further the conservative cause.
Be it Trump, Cruz or any other bogey man, it is no longer a discussion, but a schoolyard bully session.
If the that is the best we can do, we are lost. Make a case. Let the tabloids deal with the stupid stuff.
Re my byline, set a standard. Honestly measure the man against your standard and vote for the one that meets the most of your standard. Anger, and I get it, is not the best driving force for good decisions. Pray that we make the right decision, because, only time will tell. I just don't want to be bloodied and discounted for my opinion.

But there is a contingent around here who post from that blog as it it is the word come down from on high. Free Republic ought to be something more than a repeater station for the Conservative Treehouse’s slander machine.
To be fair, i've noticed a few other sites who have become way too partisan. "Gateway Pundit", for example.
I suppose I don’t have much longer before I’m gone, too; either voluntarily or by being kicked off for refusing to worship at the Trumpite altar. It’s been a great 17 years, but like all good things, it may have to come to an end.
I'm thinking that if enough people voice dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs, perhaps management will intervene to put a damper on some of this ugly mud slinging at the candidates?
By all ethical means, people, support your candidates, but do not give in to vile gossipmongering!
