The more papers NE sells, which is what it is all about for them.
I think that the timing of this story coming out was chosen to let it cool over the Easter weekend. People also less comfortable attacking people at Easter. In my mind that goes along with it being a story that could no longer be contained and all that could be done to mitigate was to create a mini scandal by baiting Trump for a counter story and picking the best time to let out the cat. That is c/w the GOPe/media wanting Cruz to retain his usefulness in dividing the delegates.
And to think, all day Sunday we were treated to endless gossip, trashy tweets, nonsensical rumors, silly interviews with hookers, etc, from the Trump mob who, presumably, are just taking their queue from their fearless leader.

The more it hurts Trump. Everyone knows Trump is a sleaze merchant. His entire campaign is one of insults, belittling opponents, endless lies, flip flops, etc, etc. The funny thing is, even if Trump had nothing to do with spreading this garbage via his CEO Pecker buddy at the NE, people will make the assumption Trump had something to do with it.

Yup, if Cruz' denial is a blatant lie he is done anyway. That's why I don't get the classless behavior by the Trump followers. All they had to do is wait a few days and see if anything comes of it.
No one should put too much faith in any politician or person of power, they all have big egos and are capable of disappointing, but so far at least it appears that Cruz was slimed in one of the most disgusting ways possible.
Saying that, I'm a Cruz supporter who acknowledges that it would seem out of character for any of this to be true, but it's always possible. The mud was thrown against the wall, now lets see if anything sticks. By this time it seems like if there were anything to the story at least some women would be out seizing their 15 minutes of fame.
