Hotels are required by law to ID and record anyone who checks in.

However, the general public cannot access those records without the Hotel's permission. Only law enforcement.

That said, if a Hotel employee decided to take $100k in cash to let NE take a photocopy of the records...all they would lose is a dead-end job.

In fact there would be extensive information, if the accusations are true, in the private domain. Credit Card receipts. Restaurant reservations, Hotel reservations etc.

And, again, if the story is true, there's a bucket of money waiting for the person who provides proof.
