The Enquirer is supposedly worth more than $500 million. They have probably been sued more than any other publication in history. They took down or helped take down Gary Hart, John Edwards, Herman Cain, and others.
I am not sure that I would expect this to immediately torpedo the Cruz campaign. The original John Edwards story came out at the end of 2007; the main stream media did not take notice until July of 2008; Edwards did not confess that the illegitimate child was his until some time in 2010. Of course Edwards is a liberal Democrat and Cruz is a conservative Republican so we can probably expect a somewhat quicker response.
There have been rumors Cruz having extramarital affairs even before one of Cruz’s email addresses was included in the Ashley Madison data dump last August. My guess is that the Cruz campaign, which has hired the top dirty trixters in the business is well prepared and has been expecting this revelation. If they were to over-react which I do not expect, this could get ugly quickly.
My guess is that they will just flatly deny everything with as little fanfare as possible to begin with and hope it blows over. If the women start talking and it is shown that this had something to do with Heidi’s emotional breakdown on the freeway this thing might have legs.

Good analysis because is does not indulge in a exaggerated appraisal of the consequences. It’s best not to expect Cruz’s campaign to self-destruct, yet.
I do have one question. We have seen the effects of putting Zer0 in office for two terms. The vetting process was criminal and we got an ill-prepared person in office. Do you think the electorate will be willing to overlook a candidate who can’t keep his pants up? Or, are they willing to let a man go forward because he has other good qualities?
