We're talking about the Glock 19, here. Probably one of the most reliable pistols ever made.

The problem with a revolver is reload.

I think the Army ruled out the .38 during the Philippine insurrection.

Because the Beretta M9 works. I've never had a jam or failure to eject from mine in over 1000 rounds. I love it. Why change now?

"I would go with a 38 revolver"

Or you could Google Philipine Insurrection to learn that the lack of stopping power of the .38 S&W and other such mouse guns as the 9mm led to the development of the .45 ACP.

For 105 years now we have had a more than adequate service pistol, fully developed, and one which our special operators overwhelmingly choose over the "issue" Beretta 9mm.

“I would go with a 38 revolver”

Why? I thought the point was to _kill_ the enemy, not annoy them and give them a reason to harm you.

Really? Why don't you read up on how they performed during the Moro Uprising?

It's shocking there's still this much ignorance of guns, in this age.

They had the .38long Colt back around 1900. It was a catastrophic failure against the Moslem Juramentados. That is why the 1911 .45 ACP was designed.

I would go with a 38 revolver

At one time the Army *did* in fact, use a .38 revolver as its sidearm. The Moro Insurrection in the Philippines in the early 1900's demonstrated, in no uncertain terms, the complete inadequacy of this weapon for the role, thus the M1911 .45...

The 38 proved ineffectual against muslim fanatics in the Philippines.

That’s why the .45 was adopted in the first place.

.38 revolvers are mechanically more complex than semi-autos, in some ways. You have to get six different chambers to line up with on barrel. The timing is particularly critical.

A little bit of sand causes serious malfunctions.

And, of course, you only have six rounds, without reloading, instead of 16 or 18.

We tried that a long time ago, but that was when we were faced with fanatical religious enemies killing American troops in hotspots across the globe, and towns along our borders were under attack and burned by bandits while criminal gangs threatened citizens in our towns and cities.

A lot has changed since then, after all Hey, how'd that revolver tryout work out, anyway....?
