She may be the most qualified. Unfortunately the way Obama has done things she’ll never get the credit she deserves if that’s the case.

Quotas, or whatever you want to call them, hurt the top individuals in the group you are trying to advance since they don’t get credit they deserve. As well as the lower-rate individuals who are not up to the job they are give. As well as the entire group which is associated with the job done by the low-raters who fail. But it “feels good” at the time.

She'd never get the credit she deserves regardless.

Quotas, or whatever you want to call them, hurt the top individuals in the group you are trying to advance since they don’t get credit they deserve.

That is, has been and always will be the case. the short-sighted do-gooders that make this stuff the law of the land either don't understand this, or don't give a damn.

I will never forget what my father, a doctor, told me at the time of the Bakke decision (when I was about 17):

"This decision is very bad news for this country. It means that a lot of people who are not the best will be entering medical school because of the color of their skin, not their abilities. The schools will not dare flunk them - so these people will become doctors. On the other hand, there will be a lot of extremely talented minority students who become doctors, they will be among the best - but you will never know which of them are good or bad. So, if you find a minority doctor who is 10 or more years older than you, he or she will have gotten in purely on merit, and DESPITE prejudice - pick them if you want to, they'll be good at what they do. But for those that are younger, you will have no idea if they are good or not - so avoid them. I hate to say this, but pick the white doctor, particularly the white male doctor - he definitely got in to med school because he deserved to be there. THIS is what those liberal idiots have done to this country, and to the minorities that they claim to try to be helping."

As you can see, I've never forgotten what he said. Regrettably, the minority doctors who got into med school before Bakke are retired or soon to be retired. I am forced, as a matter of self-preservation, to be prejudiced in how I pick a doctor for myself and my family. THAT is the legacy of "affirmative action" - MORE prejudice, not less. THAT is the legacy of government interference in normal commerce. It is sickening to me - I really couldn't give a rat's ass what color or background someone has when I pick a doctor or someone else to perform services for me, I just want the best. My own grandfather was subjected to a lot of prejudice (we're Jewish), and could not get into med school anywhere except at the University of Maryland - and he was his high school's valedictorian and did extremely well in college and on his med school entrance exam (called the MCAT today). Well, he was a superb doctor - because to get in he had to be MUCH better than his non-Jewish classmates. FYI, he studied for and passed the Florida medical boards at age 70 - 44 years after graduating med school. He was STILL smarter than a lot of the med school students, even then. So, with that as part of my family's background, I HATE to be prejudiced...but the libs forced me to be, with their empty-headed utopianism.
