They are Kurds who hold a pre-Islamic religion - mixing Zoroastrian with Jude-Christian beliefs. They also worship Lucifer but see him in a positive light.

Does the “bird” (peacock) refer to the Persian royalty (The Peacock Throne)?
Peacock throne was sort of Indian Moghuls in the Middle Ages - but maybe the idea of the peacock being a symbol of royalty predates that for Persian culture.
I did not know that. It certainly is an interesting area of the world. I was in Persia 40 years ago when it was the Shah’s turf.
