No, I think he was making it an issue, at that particular time, because he knew the question would come up, so as not to have it be an issue later.

And the issue is in the courts of various states as we speak.

It called, getting all your ducks in a row.

Uh....NOPE!

Trump eliminated that with his “Lyin’ Ted” meme.

Just another tool to use against him in the General.

Plus....I don’t think Ted would accept.

Absolutely!

Right now SCOTUS is a knife-edge. If Scalia gets replaced by anyone significantly to his left, even a Kennedy type, we are f#$@ed. It won’t matter how many walls we build.

There are 4 ways this can happen:
1. The Senate caves (it’s what they do).
2. The Senate swallows the conventional wisdom (it’s what they do) that Trump can’t win, and goes for what they think is the best they can get.
3. Hillary wins.
4. Trump wins and makes a poor choice.

With Ted as an ally, they can put enough pressure on the Senate to stop (1); they can start to savage Hillary, preventing (2) and (3); Ted can help guide Trump (or better yet, take the job).

This has three additional benefits:
1. It splinters the nevertrump movement and gives the conservatives among them (Shapiro, Sasse, etc.) a graceful way to climb down from their tree branches “If Trump is man enough to reach out to Cruz, the least I can do is be man enough to support him”.
2. It cuts off the self-serving toadies who endorsed Trump for their own gain (Huckabee, Christie, Carson) at the knees.
3. Whether Kasich is angling for VP, or to get in by a brokered convention, it cuts him off.

Folks will say that this is a bad deal because Cruz is unappealing to independents. I should think the last 2 elections taught us that this approach is a Lazio-like loser, and what we need to do is attack relentlessly.

Folks will also say that the well is poisoned between these two. But I think most of that impression comes not from the candidates’ statements (”Voodoo economics”, anyone?) but from hysterical postings on conservative web sites. But if posters on our web sites were representative of the voting population, Bob Dornan would still be President.

Imagine Trump and Cruz at a joint rally. Can’t you just hear Trump saying
“Yeah, old Ted and I had quite a battle - I see he’s sporting a black eye and I have this bruise that hurts when I breathe. But you know what - we’re both still here as the last two men standing. Now imagine what we’ll do when we fight together!”

Sigh — I can dream, can’t I?

I agree. Ted can always run again after Trump fails miserably. Let them steep in their own.

Hannity tried to say trump is basically running his campaign solo with very little help.

No one could pull that off.

No.

Lyin’ Ted has nothing to offer Trump at this point. Especially after all of the lies he has spoken recently about Trump’s positions.

Cruz has already sold out to the GOP-E, which wasn’t that difficult, because he has everyone buffaloed that he is some kind of an outsider, when it has become obvious that he is an insider.

Trump will get the 1237 without any help from Ted, before the convention.

I say, let the process play out.

I agree w/ what u said

I’m a Cruzer from Texas, what I see is as long as Kasick stays in it allows Trump to win majorities and grab all delegates from states without winning the majority vote in those states.

I see Kasick pledging his delegates to Trump pushing him over 1237 if he doesn’t reach it on his owm which is very possible.

I think Kasick as Trump’s VP would help Trump hurdle to government bureaucracy.

As a Cruzer, I’m ok with that, plus I still win because Cruz will still be my Senator.

Hey I agree with what u said.

I’m a Cruzer and to be honest when I see GOPe like kasick come flat out and say that “Trump will never be the nominee.”

That scares me that so many of them flat out say the same thing. It’s almost like and I hate to say it but you don’t think they could possibly mess with his plane or something.

The Chicago thing and moveon.org coming out today insinuating they will cause problems REALLY REALLY bothers me.

Campaign events are suppose to be positive let’s get out and vote events and we support our candidate (whoever that may be)

Folks, I’ve already voted for Cruz but after all the attacks toward Trump from agitators, it’s not to hard to believe that even Cruzers are leaning Trump’s way

Yes, please. Let TRUMP win by ourselves. Cruz brings nothing to the ticket that TRUMP has not already won without him and along side his interference.

The Cruz berserkers despise TRUMP, so what would he gain, but dragging around the dead weight of Cruz in a general election where the north and northeast have never even heard of him nets TRUMP nothing.

Yep, pretty damn near impossible for those two to ever do anything together after all the blather Trump has spewed.

I mean, how could he take all that “lying Ted” crap back? Ain’t happening.
