What browser are you using?
True that I own the hardware, but read closely most EULAs [End User License Agreement]. The user is only using, not owning, most software.
Before I retired, I acquired software for some companies I worked for in the 80s and 90s. Even though the companies issued the checks or invoice payments, the software were actually ‘licensed’ to me, the end user, rather than to the company.
Some EULAs were a riot to read, as most EUs never took them too seriously. And, after a few years, one couldn’t even give old software away. It had its own limited shelf-life.
I'm aware, that's why I pointed out the hardware ownership. I don't care if you DON'T own the software, MicroSnot nor any other vendor, still has no legal/moral justification for disabling or harming your hardware remotely without your consent.
Google Chrome.
The little green shield came up on the task bar at the lower right. Computer still working fine. Went BACK in and turned off updates again. So, they turned updates ON somehow.
You’re using Windows XP and you’re NOT updating it? Are you daft? Tell you what, you give me your public IP address, and in less than 10 minutes, I’ll hack your home network and send you a FReepmail with personal details you THOUGHT were safe. How’s that sound?
C’mon, man! I don’t even care if you go out and buy a Mac, GET OFF OF XP! Or at the least, disconnect it from the Internet. There are no fewer than 12 known, publicly-accessible vulnerabilities to Windows XP, and given that you’re not updating, I’d bet the farm that you’re susceptible to WAY more than 12. Seriously, your personal information, your identity, your security is at risk. Stop using XP!
Interesting reply.
If they are in cahoots with Microsoft that may explain why they were able to up date your pc.
