Sylvia Anderson, the co-creator of Thunderbirds, who was best known for voicing Lady Penelope in the hit TV show, has died aged 88.
The producer and writer devised the Supermarionation puppet series, one of Britains most fondly-remembered childrens TV shows, with husband Gerry Anderson in the 1960s.
Her character in the science-fiction series an aristocrat who moonlighted as an agent for the secret organization International Rescue became known as much for her pink suit as her pink Rolls Royce, chauffeured by Parker the butler.

“Thunderbirds” was one of those shows I loved to watch when I was young.
This show pops up all the time on the retro channels. It’s great fun.
.....we wouldn't have Team America
One of my favorite shows as a kid. RIP Andersons. Thanks for the post.
Remember “Supercar?”

LOL! My nephew is a big South Park fan and loved the movie Team America, as did I. But I had to explain to him that one of the reasons that I found it so funny was that as a kid in the 60s, I watched Thunderbirds and Stingray. He had no idea that this was where the SP guys got their inspiration for Team America, the use of marionettes and had never seen Thunderbirds.
I had to send him clips from YouTube to convince him that the show was real and that it was produced by Brits:
Of course there was no explicit "Supermarionation" sex scenes back then . : ),

The Making Of Thunderbirds The Documentary
This documentary actually shows how really advanced they were in back then in model making and in filming the special effects. I have to wonder if George Lucas didnt learn a few things from watching the Thunderbirds as a kid
No but I remember “Supah - Caaaaah”
Supercar
Stingray
Fireball XL5
Funny, my local channel (before cable) never carried Thunderbirds.
I mostly just remember Clutch Cargo and the scary human lips.
The puppet shows were never really my thing but the model making and effects on those shows impressed me.
RIP Sylvia A.
I just got a Roku stick and you can subscribe to the Shout Factory channel and it has the old Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds and more. I watched the first Supercar episode the other night. Great memories!
cheers
Jim
Now that theme song is stuck in my head:
Supercaaaaaah, dum dum dee dum
Supercaaaaaaa, dum dum dee dum
Dum dee dee dee dum de dah..
Ah, glory days.
There was also Fireball XL5 in the same era. That was the one I remember, I don’t think we got Thunderbirds where I lived.
