Given many of the things Palin has done since 2008, its hard not to argue that Palin was not ready for prime time.
Perhaps. But again, it’s like the flamethrowing lefty that comes to the Yankees. A good pitching coach can make Ron Guidry, no attention at all makes a washout. I think she was “coachable.”
Handled, nay assisted, in a correct way she would have been able to cope with the Journolists much better already in 2008.
Why wasn’t she given some prime time interviews with FOX News and radio interviews with any conservative radio host to introduce her to the American people? Well, we know why.
Compare her interview with Katie Couric and Biden’s the same year. Who was ready for prime time? (If you don’t remember during his chat with Couric Biden made it obvious that he thought FDR was president in 1929 - or that the Depression started in 1932. He also thought FDR went on television to calm the citizens.) Where was the GOP campaign and attack machine then?
The same day the media started to talk about the cost of “clothing the Palin family” she held an amazing speech about women with support from some leading Democrats. That speech would have been very very dangerous for Obama if it ever had made it to the front pages of the major papers. But someone - guess we know who - sabotaged that play. What did the McCain campaign do? Nothing.
She was smeared from the get go, and that was not her fault. A candidates family, and especially the children, had always been totally off limits. Not for Palin, that grace. Who defended her? Very few as far as I can remember.
