I have a Jewish friend who just took his little family and made Aliyah. I used to work with him in California at an engineering firm. I had a convo with him a short time ago- told him that I’d have been delighted to take him shooting, if I had known he was interested and knew that he was going to do that. (Read that as ‘train him really hard’).
It’s not as dead-simple for Jewish people in Israel to get firearms as pictures of young mothers toting Uzis might seem to indicate, from what he’s told me and what I’ve read. I’m sure we have an Israeli Freeper or two who can offer an opinion.

It's very difficult. The link below is about 10 years old, the laws have been liberalized a little, very little. As of a year or two ago your friend might be able to own a, a as in one, handgun after three years of residency. Basicly it's the pre independence British system, no private ownership, with a bit of liberalization.
