Anybody who owns a working dog bred from these ‘Beauty Pageant” winners is nuts. Field trial Champions are the only way to go.

Agree.
I like your description of dog shows, Beauty Pageants.
The Commander of the local Sheriff’s Dept. K9 unit spoke at our neighborhood watch a few years back. At that point he was just finishing the training of his new dog. A Belgian Shepherd, ( Shepherd because I can’t spell Malinois) obtained from Europe. He told us, they could no longer trust getting what they wanted from American breeders. So they go to a training facility that gets their dogs from breeders in Europe. Eastern Europe I think.

Our Golden is from hunting not beauty show breeding.

In Europe, *no* Dobermann litter can be bred unless at *least* one of the parents holds working titles.

Odd bit of trivia: My childhood Wonder Dobe not only had conformation champions in his pedigree, his grandfather was a Field Champion.

My Wonder Dobe could point birds like a dream, with no training at all.

How crazy is that?
