I'm all for the effort, and I would not tell people not to organize and try to make it happen. But anyone realistic can see it will never happen. Look at the list of states and their legislatures and governors and tell me which 37 will sign on.

Levin should understand that to undo 100 years of progressivism, we will need decades of hard work and changing the culture back, marching through the institutions and what not. Putting all hopes in a super long shot will be what prevents people from focusing on what can be done. Trump is a first step towards that goal, but Levin can't see that.

Excellent post.

As a longggggg time listener to talk radio I can tell you that since the 1960's, several taboo subjects got shot down quicker than you would ever believe. Any caller bringing up the 16th Amendment, IRS, Income Tax, and especially Constitutional Conventions was always ran off on a rail almost as if there was a FedGov agent sitting in the booth next to the host.

This is because of effective and convenient reverse-McCarthyism used by the left that intentionally ties these subjects to John Birch and related outcast people and groups. Levin himself was far removed from these subjects, ridiculing them when they got past the call screeners. That's right, he was completely AGAINST any Convention before he was for it. ( and BTW, Cruzers who happily engaged in the slanderous KKK crap last week should realize that the left is planning on using that same exact strategy against the wall and amnesty opponents regardless of whoever is President, if you thought the Mississippi strategy was wonderful then you threw in with the enemy, period ).

Now let me tell you what I figured out way back then. By the time Nixon was re-elected the electoral shift was just underway with distilled "blue" states in the old (F)ederalist strongholds in the North, and diluted "red" states in the South ( though the colors were reversed! ). By the time Rush came along for us here in NY in 1988, the map was cemented and it's all downhill from here. "Blue" gets darker, "Red" gets lighter. And it means something very important. And very bad.

There is a concept in most sports called the magic number which signifies the number of games to win to clinch a title, or number games to lose to be locked out. With 50 States in the USA you actually need 38 to ratify a Constitutional Amendment, and guess what? The magic number to ensure blocking of a Constitutional Amendment is 13, which ironically is the same as the original number of colonies and states.

Levin and all the other conservatives in the media that fought us for so long on any Amendment ( e.g., repeal of the 16th Income Tax or the stillborn Balanced Budget Amendment from the Gingrich 104th Congress ) were actually the ones who stalled any chance at getting this thing going! In fact, he was on the radio today talking about it being "almost too late now", even though him and his fellow conservative media sheepherders steered us into this pen.

But back to the magic number and why things are so truly bleak. Once you finally have 13 "Blue" Socialist neo-Communist states who are guaranteed to reject or simply refuse to consider an Amendment, well, it is over, permanently. The Republic of States united in a voluntary union is literally ended and the central FedGov runs the show with no possible recourse from the peasants via State or individual action in violation of every warning the Framers stated. So, the question becomes: can they now count to 13? Well, there's Massachusetts, California, New York, ...

It is truly the worst possible twist of fate that the number 13 represents both the beginning of our republic and also the very end.
