My daughter was 6 months old when she had it. That was 46 years ago. I do not recall any talk of immunity afterward.
I do not remember a vaccine for it being part of the regular vaccination schedule for infants at that time. Is it now?

No, in the USA, the vaccine is generally only mandated to older teens, and/or young adults living in diverse “communal living” situations.
Military recruits
College students (who reside on campus)
Certain prison populations
The vaccine is not cheap, nor is it suitable for infants and young children as a group, unless an outbreak occurs.

The worst part was she had to fly home to recuperate and she missed Ronald Reagan’s visit to her campus on his way home to the Santa Barbara ranch when he finished his second term in office.
